A note Lynn Newell, author of

God's True Love Revealed

Since my childhood, God has shown me the details of His world and unlocked in me a passion to draw what I saw. As I grew older, He not only increased my awareness of His world but also gave me a passion for His Word (Bible). Combining these two passions, plus my love for children, God led me to write God’s True Love Revealed. Throughout this process, I was reminded of the verse He gave me when raising my own children and it has become the main foundation for this book:

Train up a child in the way he should go, even when he is old he will not depart from it (Proverbs 22:6).

I would like to add one more comment to my young readers. Since all of my drawings are inspired by God and because He guides my pencil as each one emerges, in His honor, I have placed a cross somewhere in all my drawings as His signature. Can you find them all?

Curiosity

Our world is so fascinating. There are so many things to see and learn about and do. However, there are also things that can harm you. Do you know what they are? God has put your parents in charge of teaching you what is safe and what is harmful. He has put you in charge of listening and obeying them. There will be times in your life when you are faced with deciding if something is good or bad for you. During those times, remember not only what your parents taught you but listen to your conscience – God’s warning system when you are about to make the wrong decision. LISTEN!

Parents

Your children are naturally curious about everything. Your job is to see to it that their curiosity doesn’t get them in trouble. Unfortunately, you can’t always be with them, so give your children the tools to discern when to be curious and when to walk away. Our world today is taking us farther and farther away from God’s standards. Do your children know the difference between what the world says and what God says? Do they understand that God’s ways are always better even when it doesn’t seem like it at the time? Instruct them in what God’s standards are by teaching them His Word.

About Lynn

Lynn has dabbled in the world of art ever since she can remember, but it wasn’t until she took an art class in high school and then minored in art at Oregon State University, that she began her passion for drawing and painting. After graduating from OSU, she became a teacher, married her soul mate, Gary, and had two sons. She continued to take art classes when she could find the time. For several years, Lynn did professional commission oil paintings and sold her art in Oregon and Washington. Upon moving to Southern California in 1973, she continued to do commissioned paintings but eventually the demands of her family and teaching put her art career on hold.

It wasn’t until 2000, that her passion for drawing was rekindled once again. While substitute teaching in a high school art class, she was exposed to Prisma colored pencils.
